Foundation of AUCA

The Adventist University of Central Africa was established in Mudende, northwestern Rwanda, to serve the Francophone constituency of the then Africa-Indian Ocean Division.

Our Foundation

AUCA was established by visionary Seventh-day Adventist leaders who recognized the vital need for quality Christian higher education in Central Africa.

Originally located in Mudende, northwestern Rwanda, the institution was thoughtfully designed to serve the Francophone constituency and became a pioneering force in Adventist education across the African continent.

Resilience & Renewal

AUCA's journey has been marked by both triumph and trial. From establishment in 1978 through the challenging closure in 1994, to the triumphant reopening in 1996, the university has demonstrated remarkable resilience.

Today, with multiple campuses across Rwanda including the main Masoro campus, Gishushu campus for Science and Technology, and the Ngoma Nursing campus, AUCA continues to honor its legacy while embracing the future.
